The other night, from the end of a pier, I watched the golden moon rise over Lake Michigan. In order to do so, I had to temporarily overcome my deep fear of spiders. They were everywhere, spinning webs and catching insects. Most of them looked pregnant or swollen with their victim's fluids. With a little encouragement from a friend, I decided to focus on the beauty of the water and the moon. I'm so glad I could overcome this irrational fear and not allow it to interfere with the magical moonscape painted on the water.
